Castleford Sea Cadets have moved into a new base in a bid to attract more youngsters to get involved in the group.
The cadets, who used to meet at Holywell Lane Day Centre, have moved to the Active Centre on Stansfield Road in Airedale .
The group marked the move with an open day on Saturday.
Chief Petty Officer Lynda Horner, commanding officer, said: “We were so limited in the range of activities we could offer our cadets in our old unit and also limited the numbers we could accept.
“At the Active Centre we’ve so much more space and now have our main deck and classrooms as well as lots of outside space for parades.
“We’re really looking forward to welcoming more new cadets to the unit.”
Cadets can work towards extra qualifications as well as BTEC and other courses such as cooking and first aid.
Mrs Horner said: “It’s really important for the children to do activities in addition to their school work.
“School has to come first but the work they do at the cadets also goes on their CVs.”
