The number of people claiming out-of-work benefits across the Five Towns fell last month.
There were 2,710 people in the Pontefract and Castleford area who claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) in March, according to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics.
The fall comes after 2,758 people claimed JSA in February.
Long term youth unemployment across the Five Towns remained the same last month.
The number people aged 16-24 claiming JSA for a year or was 150 last month.
Nationally, the number of people out of work fell by 77,000 to a five-year low of 2.24m in the three months to February.
The unemployment rate now stands at 6.9 per cent.
