Detectives investigating the house fire in Garforth that killed two people yesterday (Tuesday) have confirmed they are treating the incident as arson.
But officers said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the blaze, on Farfield Court shortly after 6.30pm.
A woman was pronounced dead at the scene while a man who was taken to hospital suffering serious burns later died from his injuries.
Senior investigating officer, Det Chief Insp Jon Morgan, of protective services crime, said: “We are treating this incident as suspicious, however, we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this enquiry.
“Whilst we are not in a position to release the identifications of the deceased, I can confirm that they are the male and female occupants of the address.
“We continue to liaise with fire investigators as well as the coroner’s office.”
