Performing arts students from Airedale Academy in Castleford have teamed up with the police to raise awareness of child sexual exploitation.
Sixth-form pupils at the school have created a series of films highlighting both a male and female victim’s point of view as part of West Yorkshire Police’s Know the Signs campaign.
Ingrid Lee, West Yorkshire Police temporary assistant chief constable, said:“It is imperative that we remove this type of activity from our neighbourhoods and bring those responsible to justice and videos such as this can only help to increase the pressure on perpetrators.”
The project aims to encourage youngsters to come forward and report signs of sexual exploitation.
Tracey Bell, artistic director at Airedale Academy, said: “Taking part in this project was not only an excellent performance opportunity for our students but also a very educational and important one that has highlighted this serious problem.”
