Kippax post office will close for major refurbishment next month.
The branch, on High Street, is one of more than 6,000 across the country being revamped by the Post Office.
It will close at 5.30pm on Tuesday, February 4 and re-open on Monday, February 17 at 1pm.
Coun Keith Wakefield, Leeds City councillor for Kippax and Methley, said: “Post offices provide a vital service in our communities and villages.
“This refurbishment will add to the brilliant service that Kippax post office already provides, making it an even more enjoyable for the customers.
“We are delighted to announce that this modernisation will include an increase in Saturday opening hours and look forward to visiting the new-look post office in February.”
While the branch is closed customers can use alternative branches on Main Street, in Garforth and St Aidan’s Road, Great Preston.
The revamp follows similar work at the branch in Knottingley.
Adrian Wales, Post Office regional network manager, said: “We understand how important post office services are to residents in Kippax and we are confident this new modern branch will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.
“The proposed changes to the branch are part of a major investment programme to convert the Post Office network to new-style branches and this investment, the largest in the history of the Post Office, marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
