Youngsters at Allerton Bywater Primary School wasted no time in settling into their new classroom when it officially opened last week.
The new facility is the first phase of expansion works at the school which will double its size and offer two separate classes per year from September.
The classroom has computers, tables and space for children to work in groups.
Rebekah Brown, year five teacher at the school, said: “The children have settled in really quickly. They have been absolutely brilliant.
“We did some work with them about the new classroom and a lot them wrote about how they find it a lot better for their learning.”
The school unveiled the new facility at an official opening event on Friday.
The number of pupils at the school will double from 210 to 420.
Miss Brown added: “We’ve had to turn quite a few students away who have wanted to come to our school.
“This will mean we can accept a lot more pupils from the area.
“The new classroom is also a much better facility for the children to learn in and they’ve all said they absolutely love it.”
