Blaze at Ferrybridge warehouse

Firefighters from across the district tackled a blaze at a warehouse in Ferrybridge in the early hours of the morning on Monday March 11.

Teams were called to Highways Recovery Ltd at the A1 Business Park on Knottingley Road just before 1am, with around 45 firefighters tackling the blaze.

Acetyline oxygen cylinders had to be removed from the site, while pumps from Pontefract, Castleford, Featherstone, Normanton, Garforth and Rothwell, along with an aerial appliance from Wakefield attended the scene.

The blaze affected about 25 per cent of the building as well as vehicles at the warehouse. Details of damage are still unclear and the cause is under investigation.
