Kippax fundraiser for cancer charity

editorial image

A fundraising event takes place on Saturday March 16 to raise cash for the Bone Cancer Research Trust in support of a Castleford teenager battling the disease.

Caleb Hill, 16, has Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare bone cancer and has had to have his right femur removed and intensive chemotherapy.

His family has already raised over £3,000 for the charity and hope the event on Saturday will take the fundraising total to £5,000.

The event takes place at Kippax Leisure Centre from 1.30pm to 5.30pm and features a host of sports taster sessions, including water polo, diving, badminton, pilates, boot camp and a football tournament.

There will also be a variety of refreshments and stalls, along with face painting and stories. Members of Leeds Rhinos will also be at the event.

All the taster sessions can be booked on the day and cost £1 each, and teams for the football tournament need to register by 2.15pm, with a maximum of seven per team, including one adult.

See Thursday’s Express to find out more about Caleb’s fight against cancer.
