Ferrybridge residents are being invited to have their say on a £200,000 improvement scheme in the village.

Wakefield Council is proposing to construct a new roundabout on the A162 at DIsh Hill and prevent lorries from using Argyle Road and High Street.

Council bosses also plan to impose a new 20mph speed limit on High Street as well as improving the appearance with new paving.

Coun Graham Stokes said: “We, as local councillors, are very pleased to see the investment being made here.

“In recent years we have seen developments that, although very welcome in terms of creating high quality jobs, has had the disadvantage of increasing the number of HGVs travelling through The Square.

“The introduction of the roundabout and associated improvements being made to the road layout and footpaths in Ferrybridge Square will enhance the environment and improve road safety.”

Plans are on display in Ferrybridge Community Centre, The Square, between 9am and 12pm until tomorrow.

Wakefield Council said any work would start in the summer.
