A MAN has been arrested following an attempted sexual assault in Castleford.

West Yorkshire Police are questioning a 20-year-old man in connection with the incident in a ginnel off Pottery Street on July 5.

Detectives say the incident occurred as the girl was walking home from school at around 4.15pm.

She was allegedly followed by a man along Wilson Street, Saville Road and Moss Street before being dragged into the side street.

It is believed he was disturbed by some passers-by and ran off.
