FIREWORKS and bonfires will light up the night skies for thousands of Five Towns’ residents this weekend.

Castleford Tigers will start the festivities with a bang at their bonfire bonanza at the Probiz Coliseum, on Wheldon Road, on Friday November 2 at 6pm. The bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm, followed by a firework display at 7.30pm.

Star players will be in attendance alongside club mascot, JT, fairground attractions and food stalls.

Advance tickets priced £5 for adults and £3 for children can be purchased from the Tigers’ store in Castleford’s Carlton Lanes shopping centre. To book tickets to this event visit the Castleford Tigers’ website at www.castigers.com or call the club shop on 01977 555336.

Whitwood Golf Courses’ bonfire will kick off at the Altofts Lane course on Saturday November 3 at 7pm, followed by a fireworks display at 8pm. The clubhouse will be open from 6pm, with food and drink costing £3 per person.

Wakefield Council will hold its annual Thornes Park bonfire and firework display on Saturday November 3 at 6pm. The bonfire will be lit at 7pm, followed by a Guy Fawkes competition at 7.30pm, and fireworks display at 8pm. This free event will also include a live band and fire entertainers performing throughout the night.

Featherstone Rovers will be holding their community bonfire and fireworks display at the Big Fellas Stadium, on Post Office Road, on Sunday November 4 at 6pm.

There will be traditional bonfire food, entertainment from Capital FM Breakfast DJ Hirsty, disco, children’s fair and sweet stalls.

Kings Croft Hotel will be hosting its fireworks display on traditional bonfire night November 5 from 6pm to 11pm.

Entry costs £5 per adult, free entry for children. There will be a hog roast and buffet.

There will also be a free event on the same night at Hemsworth Water Park, on Hoyle Mill Road, which will start with the lighting of the bonfire at 6.30pm, followed by a fireworks display at 7.30 pm. The Lakeside cafe will be open, between 5pm and 8pm, to purchase bonfire themed food.
