Castleford cage fighter jailed after unprovoked attack

A Castleford cage fighter who launched an unprovoked attack on a man in the toilets of a bar, has been jailed.

Anthony Holmes, 23, of Carlyle Crescent, attacked a 20-year-old man in the Stone Roses Bar on Briggate, Leeds, last June.

Bradford Crown Court heard how Holmes punched and kneed the victim in the face causing bruising and swelling to his face before washing his hands and returning to the bar.

PC Penny Halliwell, the investigating officer from British Transport Police, said: “This was a completely unprovoked assault on a young man enjoying a night out with his friends.”

Holmes was jailed for 42 weeks at Bradford Crown Court yesterday (Thursday).
