Charity shop’s appeal

KNOTTINGLEY people are being urged to donate their unwanted clothes and other items to the town’s Sue Ryder charity shop.
The Hill Top shop has launched an appeal for new stock to help fund the charity’s vital health and social care work.
Rachel Land, assistant manager of the shop, said: “We are encouraging people to clear out their wardrobes and cupboards and donate any clothes that no longer fit, books they have already read and bric-a-brac they no longer use, to our charity shop on Hill Top.
“Charity shops like the Sue Ryder shop in Knottingley, benefit the local community as a whole, because they help raise money which goes back into providing end-of-life and long-term care to local people when they need it most, including care provided at hospices and care centres across the UK.”
She added: “Our Sue Ryder shop in Knottingley is extremely short of the donations needed to meet the increasing demand for good quality items at affordable prices and keep our shelves continually stocked with merchandise.
“ Encouraging people to gift aid their items provides us with that little bit extra as well.”
As well as clothes, books and bric-a-brac, the shop also takes donations of furniture and small electrical items. Unwanted goods can be taken in, or the shop can arrange to collect bulky items.
All money raised helps the charity deliver care and emotional support to people with life-changing illness and their families.
Rachel said: “We hope local groups, businesses, schools and individuals will support the appeal by donating stock to the shop and ask friends, family members and colleagues to do the same.
“The support of the local community has never been so vital for Sue Ryder than it is right now.”
