Gala’s sunshine success
Featherstone Gala parade 2012
CROWDS gathered in the sunshine last weekend in support of Featherstone’s annual town gala.
Revellers lined the streets of the town on Saturday as the procession travelled from St Wilfrid’s Catholic High School to Purston Park.
The good weather was a relief for town councillors who were forced to cancel their jubilee themed event in July due to wet weather.
Coun Margaret Isherwood, mayor of Featherstone, said: “We had a wonderful day. The weather was fine and the crowds were fantastic.
“There was a wonderful amount of people supporting it and lots going on. It was nice to see so many people enjoying themselves.

“Even though we had to move the gala from the original date, we had everyone coming down and joining in.”
Activities and events throughout the day included live wrestling, school races, charity stalls and dance displays.
