Defiant councillors will be urging residents to sign on the dotted line this weekend to get a defunct railway platform moving again.

Castleford councillors Denise Jeffery, Tony Wallis and Richard Forster will be at the town’s station on Saturday from 11am, asking people to sign a petition which they hope will convince bosses at Network Rail to reopen the disused second platform.

Coun Jeffery said: “It’s great that Network Rail tidied it up but I want people to be able to go to York and the east coast.” Visit www.facebook.com/groups/505837662791653/ to find out more.
