BUDDING young author Gianni Tam-McMillan hopes his new book about airports will see his writing career take off.

While other boys may be obsessed by cars or football, the 10-year-old, of Mayors Walk Avenue, Pontefract, decided to write a book about his favourite topic, aeroplanes.

Your Journey Through the Airport is a guide to what happens before, during and after a flight and is aimed at children and adults.

His passion for planes first took off when he was just a toddler and he has wanted to become a pilot since he was five.

He said: “I’ve always liked aeroplanes and I thought that this would be a good way to help other people when they’re at the airport.”

He even had some words of advice for any other young writers, adding: “If you want to write a book, you just have to do it - you have to have confidence in yourself.”
