Hospice gets ready for memory walk

Hundreds of people are getting ready for an emotional walk in memory of loved ones as Pontefract’s Prince of Wales Hospice holds its annual Memory Walk.

The event, which has raised more than £70,000 over the last six years, will take part in the grounds of Nostell Priory on Sunday, March 10.

For the first time there will be two routes this year and organisers are hoping the walk will raise around £15,000.

Hospice events fundraiser Tom Cowie said: “We’re very excited about the move to Nostell Priory for the Memory Walk this year and hope it will encourage more people to participate.

“Everyone has their own reason for taking part in the walk, some to celebrate the life of a loved one and others simply want to get active and support their local charity.”

Entrants can decide to walk on the 10km parkland route or a 2.5km lakeside route, which is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

Places cost £7 for adults or £4 for under 16s for entries received by March 1.

It is possible to enter on the day, but entry will cost more.

To register visit www.pwh.org.uk/events or pick up a booking form from the hospice or one of the hospice shops across the area.
