MP marks Women’s Day with talk

MP Yvette Cooper met with residents and students to discuss issues facing women here and around the world to mark International Women’s Day.

Discussion at the event ranged from women and sport, to combating violence and harassment against women and the importance of childcare.

She said: “It was brilliant to talk to talented young women with great ambitions for the future – from research scientists to doctors and lawyers. They were very impressive and had lots of ideas about challenging discrimination too.”
