ACKWORTH mum Emily Taylor is lacing up her running shoes for the first time to raise cash for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The 25-year-old will run the Jane Tomlinson Asda Foundation Run For All 10k on Sunday August 5.

Miss Taylor, of Woodleigh Crescent, has already raised £340 for the charity which supported her mother-in-law Marilyn Marshall in her battle with secondary liver cancer.

She added: “It’s my first run and I just wanted to make some money for Macmillan because they’ve been really supportive with Marilyn.

“Everyone thinks cancer won’t happen to them, but it affects people every day. If I can raise just a little bit of money by running 10k, it’s worthwhile.”

Miss Taylor was pregnant with her daughter, Freya, when her mother-in-law was given just weeks to live, but due to the charity’s support, she is still fighting 16 months on.

She added: “Marilyn made a miracle recovery and none of this would have been possible without the support of the hospice, doctors, carers, Macmillan nurses and of course our little Freya.”
