Snow set to fall all weekend in Pontefract and Castleford

SNOW has been forecast to fall all weekend across the Five Towns, the Met Office has warned.

A severe weather warning said that snow would start falling this afternoon and that up to 15cm could fall by Sunday.

The forecast said that winds would pick up today, leading to feeling as cold as -7°C.

There could be disruption to travel and roads could become icy.

The Met Office said the snow is set begin falling this afternoon and winds could lead to blizzard like conditions.

Wakefield Council said gritting teams were on standby.

But the Highways Agency urged people to check forecasts before travelling.
