GENEROUS students from Pontefract NEW college raised £400 for Breast Cancer UK by hosting an array of fundraising events.

Thomas Clayton, Georgia Threadgold, Ryan Bellas and Rachel Beanland bucket collected cash, sold buns and biscuits, organised a music gig and a night out at Xscape to raise cash for the charity.

The week of activities hosted last month was part of the college’s Raising and Giving Week.

Pupil Thomas Clayton, student executive, said: “When we were organising the events we weren’t sure they would all go ahead let alone be successful, yet the team pulled together and did countless hours of organising venues, bake sales and rehearsing for a live band on the Thursday lunchtime.

“With the tireless work of the students and the assistance from teachers including Simon Fletcher and Kristy Dixon, we pulled off a very successful week of fundraising to a charity which is close to many people’s hearts.

“Pauline Hagen, the principle of the college, can be immensely proud of her students for this huge act of generosity.”
