MORE than 1,000 revellers turned out to celebrate Brotherton and Byram’s fifth annual carnival.

Residents were treated to live performances from local band Project 4, dog displays, fairground rides and a show by Claire’s School of Dance in Brotherton on Saturday.

Roger Steels, Brotherton and Byram Carnival committee chairman, said: “It was a fantastic day and the weather was brilliant for us.

“A group of residents started the carnival in 2008 to bring the villages of Brotherton and Byram together and every year and I think we achieve this goal.

“But we are really pleased that people from surrounding areas are coming to join in too.”
