Castleford mum Kate Kear is continuing her fundraising and awareness campaign into familial hypercholesterol (FH) by organising a summer ball and taking part in a national health event.
Kate, 33, of Denton Terrace, and two of her four children have been diagnosed with the condition, while a third is borderline FH, which can lead to heart attacks and strokes.
She is organising a Midsummer Butterfly Ball in aid of Heart UK on June 7 at The Bluebell Hotel in Dodworth, Barnsley, while a friend has just completed a skydive to raise money for the charity.
Kate has also spoken this week at the Healthcare Innovation Expo at the Excel Arena in London to talk about a patient’s perspective on diagnosis and treatment of FH.
Kate is pictured with her children Jack, 14, Lewis, 12, Isabel, nine, who has just been diagnosed and Caleb, two.
