I RECENTLY had an operation performed on my big toe at Pontefract General Infirmary by a Mr Pickard.
He and his operating team were not just very efficient in a surgical sense, they were absolutely great as to how they looked after you from the moment you set foot into their domain.
I therefore ask the people of Pontefract and district to please do whatever you can and keep fighting to save our local hospital before we lose the skills of surgeons like Mr Pickard and his staff to Pinderfields or Dewsbury.
We cannot call this a great hospital just yet because of all the inefficiency of the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals Trust.
Roger Ellis (Express Letters March 29) got it spot on, “all is not lost,” and I’ll beg if necessary to Stephen Eames to get these mothballed wards open and start to make PGI a great hospital again.
