A 62-YEAR-OLD man had to be rescued by firefighters after he was crushed by a wall in Kippax.
The man became trapped between his bungalow and a pile of bricks as he pulled down a wall in his garden at Manor Garth Road at around 3pm today (January 26).
Teams from Garforth and Castleford Fire and Rescue helped dig the man out from under the debris.
Watch Commander Chris Quinn of Garforth fire station said the man had been crushed by the collapse of the wall and was lucky to have been freed so quickly.
West Yorkshire Police closed the road temporarily to allow Yorkshire Air Ambulance to land a helicopter and transport the man to Leeds General Infirmary.
His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
