Masked men armed with a knife target Pontefract bookmakers

Masked men threatened staff of a bookmakers with a knife before making off with cash.

The incident occurred around 8.35pm last night (Sunday), when two unknown males entered the bookmakers at The Circle, Chequerfield, and threatened a 27-year-old female with what is believed to be a knife and made demands for money.

The suspects jumped over the counter and grabbed an amount of cash.

The first suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’8 tall, of stocky build with brown eyes. He was wearing blue overalls, a black hat and face covering that had a skeleton design.

The second suspect is described as being 5’7 tall, of skinny build wearing blue overalls and black face covering.

Detective Inspector David Rogerson of Wakefield District CID said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around 8.35pm last night and may have seen the suspects before or after the incident to come forward to the police by calling us on 101, or by contacting Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
