A memorial service is to take place in June to celebrate the life of former MP Lord Geoffrey Lofthouse of Pontefract.
Lord Lofthouse died last November, aged 86, and the memorial service will take place at St Giles’ Church in Pontefract on Saturday June 8 at 2pm, and is being organised by his daughter Lynne Lindley.
She said: “We want the service to be a celebration of my father’s life.”
Lord Lofthouse served as MP for Pontefract and Castleford from 1978 to 1997, when he received a peerage.
He achieved the unique double of serving as deputy speaker in both House of Common s and House of Lords.
