Motorists could be facing four months of disruption.

Northern Gas Networks is replacing 1.5km of metal gas mains with new plastic piping in the village of Old Snydale.

And to complete the work the company will have to close Church Lane for at least three weeks in January.

The work starts on Monday, January 5 on New Road and is expected to last until April.

Also temporary traffic lights will be in place on New Road throughout the project.

John Pickering, Customer Operations Area Manager, Northern Gas Networks said; “We’ve planned our work closely with the Highways Department to minimise disruption to motorists, residents and local businesses.

“We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience this essential work may cause and thank members of the public for their patience and support.”

“We are holding a community forum at The Cross Keys Inn between 4pm-6pm on 18th December.

“Our Customer Care and Operations team will be on hand to answer any questions from members of the public.

“We will also continue to keep customers informed via our website, Twitter and Facebook accounts and the local media.”

For more information contact the Customer Care team on 0845 634 0508, option 7. The team is available between 8am and 10pm Monday to Friday, and 9am and 5pm on Saturday.
