Knottingley Library will move into a newly refurbished base in the town’s sports centre next month with longer opening hours.

The Hill top based library will be closed for four days before opening at its new base next door.

The new library has been revamped with new carpets, shelving, furniture and a new layout.

Coun David Dagger, Wakefield Clouncil’s cabinet member for culture and libraries, said he hopes library users will enjoy the new facilities.

He said: “By relocating the library, we can offer users improved facilities and longer opening hours.

“We apologise for any disruption the temporary closure will cause, but hope all users to the library will enjoy the improved facilities when it reopens.”

The mobile library will make an additional stop on Monday, September 2, between 3pm and 5pm.

It will be parked at the back of the Knottingley Sports Centre.

Those library users requiring computer access can use any other council library.

The nearest libraries are at The Square, Airedale and Pontefract Library, in the town centre.
