IT was no hassle for ‘The Hoff’ to stop at Xscape for a TV and film car convention on Saturday.

Knight Rider star David Hasselhoff wowed crowds at the Glass Houghton leisure complex with his surprise appearance at the KnightCon Star Car event.

The 80s TV legend and fleet of famous movie cars – including Back to the Future’s DeLorean and Bumblebee from Transformers – helped Xscape attract its highest number of visitors since it opened in 2003.

Jason Warren, general manager, said: “It was a fantastic success, the day was exceptionally popular.

“Having The Hoff there was a great addition to the day and it is a huge achievement that we can attract a massive star like David Hasselhoff to our event.”

The star-studded convention was organised by friends Steve Fawcett, 29, and Rob Ormondroyd, 39, who both own replica KITT cars.

The Hoff took advantage of being reunited with his crime-fighting companion to propose to his Welsh girlfriend Hayley Roberts – but she said no.

Jason said: “Apparently he’s proposed to her a few times now and she keeps saying no. If only she had said yes, we could have invited them back six months later for the reception.

“I think because it was a free event and it was so well managed other celebrities will be encouraged to visit us.
