CROWDS lined the streets to pay their respects as the Royal British Legion (RBL) marked its 90th anniversary.
Branch flags were proudly waved as a parade was led through Wakefield city centre on Saturday.
The celebration started in the morning with a procession by the RBL motorcycle branch and shoppers passing through the Bull Ring were entertained by a military band as fundraisers collected donations. Later, veterans marched from Laburnum Road to the cenotaph where wreaths were laid.
Harry Wakefield, chairman of the Wakefield group, said: “There was also a concert by the Crofton Silver Band followed by a service in the cathedral to mark the 90th anniversary.”
More than £640 was raised for the RBL on the day. To donate to the Royal British Legion visit www.britishlegion.org.uk or call 0113 256 4477.
