Pensioner airlifted to hospital following Badsworth crash

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was called out after a van and a car were involved in a crash in Badsworth yesterday.

A 70-year-old and 35-year-old were cut out of their car by firefighters. The pensioner was then airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary.

The younger female was taken to Pinderfields Hospital by ambulance.

The driver of the van managed to escape with minor injuries.

It took place around 8.30am on Thorpe Lane, Badsworth, on Tuesday morning.

Fire crews from South Elmsall and Pontefract attended.

Police and three ambulances also attended.

The road was closed and reopened shortly before 1pm.

Investigations are being carried out by police.
