BUDDING Castleford artist Jack Edgar could have a colourful career ahead of him after winning a competition to have his picture featured in a new calendar.
The seven-year-old was “delighted” after his drawing of his favourite superhero was picked out of dozens of entries to appear in the 2013 Child Care and Carers Support Service calendar.
The Castleford Park Junior School pupil was presented with an award at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield by assistant director of human resources Sharon Brown last week.
Jack said: “It was great to get the award. I drew Ultimate Spidermonkey because he’s my favourite character on television.
“I want to be an artist when I grow up and I have started drawing a lot more now.”
Children from NHS Trust nurseries and holiday clubs entered the annual competition by creating pieces of artwork during the summer holidays.
Jack’s mum Sarah Edgar, of Hawthorne Avenue, Castleford, said: “It was lovely to see Jack being presented with a prize for his drawing.
“He was given a huge tub of art paints and a colouring book which he was delighted with.
“Before we found out he had won the competition he thought he wasn’t very good but now it’s really built his confidence and I am so proud of him.
“His picture will be up in the Pinderfields nursery for all the children to see until the winners are picked for next year.”
