COMMUNITY-spirited workers donated £2,000 to Streethouse J&I School for exciting new playground equipment.
Staff from DHL delivery company – who raised the cash by holding a sponsored walk and bike ride – visited the Whinney Lane school to see the new wooden climbing frame which their money helped to fund.
Assistant headteacher Debbie Leach said: “It is fantastic donation and has made such a huge difference to the pupils’ playtime.
“The climbing frame has a slide, a sliding pole and overhead rings which have given the pupils a whole new challenge.
“The money was put towards something for the older children because in the past DHL has donated cash towards a new sand pit for the younger ones.
Andy Fell, DHL shift manager at Whitwood, said: “We are very pleased to help the school and we look forward to doing more work to benefit the pupils in the future.”
The playground equipment was installed last month and DHL community team plans to install a garden area at the school in April.
