Police appeal for help to trace missing man

Police are appealing for information to help trace a man who has gone missing in Knottingley.

William Metcalfe, aged 73, who goes by the name of Alan, was seen in the Hill Top area at about 5pm yesterday.

He was last seen an hour later in Wharfe Way, carrying shopping bags, possibly from Morrisons.

He is described as just over 5ft tall and of slim build. He was wearing a grey waterproof jacket with a hood, blue trousers and black trainers. He may have been wearing glasses. 

Officers have released CCTV footage of Mr Metcalfe at Wharfe Way as they appeal for help to find him.

Sgt Jeff Dulson, of Wakefield District Police, said: “We are very concerned for Alan’s welfare as he requires regular medication. We would like to hear from anyone who has seen him.” 

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt Dulson on 101 quoting log number 1621 of December 1.
