MOTORCYCLISTS running riot in Ferry Fryston had their bikes seized by police in a crackdown on anti-social behaviour on The Green.

Officers from Castleford neighbourhood policing team (NPT) confiscated two bikes during a blitz at the trouble hotspot after members of a bowls club complained about bikers damaging their facilities.

Insp Dave Bugg, of the NPT, said: “The park is a lovely area for the community, which the vast majority of visitors enjoy responsibly.

“We and our partners will not tolerate the anti-social minority who are intent on ruining the facilities provided and will use everything at our disposal to tackle the offenders and urge the community to assist us by providing us with the identity of those involved.”

Officers have stepped up patrols in the area and are taking action against offenders.

Insp Bugg added: “We have seized two motorbikes in the area and reported the users, who will be appearing at court in the near future.

“The community has supplied the names of three other people who have been involved in driving motorcycles in the park and they will be visited jointly by police, members of Wakefield Council’s anti-social behaviour unit and housing officers in a joint approach to tackle the offenders.”

Anyone with information about the use of illegal motorcycles should contact the NPT by calling 01924 206210.
