Pontefract Collieries under 19s’ fantastic run in the FA Youth Cup came to an end when they lost 4-0 at home to Wrexham in the final qualifying round.

The Colls youngsters had already made history by becoming the first team from the club to make it this far in the competition, but they were unable to reach the first round proper against the former Football League club.

Ponte suffered their first defeat of the season as three goals in nine minutes, including a screamer from 25 yards by Scott McHarrie, leading up to half-time undid them.

They continued to give it a go and forced the visiting keeper into action, but Doug Tharme’s injury time goal sealed Wrexham’s win.
