A new scheme is helping young people find work by providing local businesses with free support.

The Headstart project, led by Groundwork Wakefield, aims to help businesses take on new employees by providing an expert advisor to support them through the recruiting process.

Young people aged between 18 and 24 can get free training, a mentor and a guaranteed job interview. The scheme is run in partnership with Wakefield Council, Job Centre Plus, Prospects, CK Careers and LEP Adult Education.

Coun Denise Jeffery said: “Ensuring our young people have the skills and support to help them into work is essential. This scheme is an excellent opportunity to bring together employers and local young job seekers.”
