Pugneys Country Park has reopened eight days after it was closed due to flooding.

Torrential rain caused the lake’s water levels to rise after storms hit on Boxing Day.

Staff closed the park after water submerged some of the paths making them unsafe.

But the flood water has now cleared and the park reopened on Monday morning.

A post on the park’s Facebook page said: “Just to let you all know that the park is open.

“The paths are now accessible and the flood waters are slowly subsiding three inches a day.”
