Knottingley schoolgirl Rachel Coates has been rewarded for seven years of full attendance without a day off sick at school.
Rachel, 11, who leaves England Lane J&I School this term, has never had a day off throughout her entire time there – and has a clutch of certificates to prove it.
She was presented with a special award to mark her achivement at the school’s leavers’ assembly, to join her attendance certificates she has received each term.
Her mum Jannine, of Quarry Avenue, Knottingley, said: “It’s an achievement these days. Rachel loves it there and the teachers are lovely.
“Once she was quite ill and ended up in hospital with pneumonia, but it was during the summer holidays.
“She was crying and wanting to go to school, I had to get one of her teachers to ring her up to reassure her it was the holidays and she wasn’t missing any school and didn’t need to come in.”
Rachel has also won the class prize three years’ running.
Jannine added: “I’ve kept all her attendance certificates in a folder for her . She’s a good girl and tries really hard.”
