Remembrance Day services to be held across Five Towns

Services will be held across the Five Towns this weekend to mark Remembrance Day.

Members of Ackworth and Pontefract branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL) will parade through Pontefract town centre on Sunday from 10.30am.

The branch will also hold two minutes silence at the cenotaph at 11am, followed by a service at St Giles’ Church.

There will also be two minutes silence at the cenotaph on Monday, from 11am.

Members of Knottingley and Ferrybridge branch will also hold a service at the cenotaph on Chapel Street, in Knottingley.

People in Castleford can also pay their respects to those who have been killed or injured in battle.

There will be a service at the town’s war memorial, outside the British Legion Club, on Powell Street, from 11am.

A parade will also be held through Featherstone on Sunday.

It will leave Green Lane at 10.50am with a service at the war memorial gardens on Station Lane at 11am.

There will also be a service at the gardens on Monday at 11am.
