Residents in Knottingley will be showing cold callers the door as part of a new initiative on their estate.
A ‘cold calling control zone’ has been launched in the Holderness Road area by police, housing bosses, and councillors.
It has been set up after complaints from residents about the number of cold callers in the area.
PCSO Richard Shaw, of the Pontefract and Knottingley neighbourhood policing team, said: “This is an opportunity for residents to take control of their area in which they live and contribute to making it a safer place for them, their families and neighbours.
“By providing residents with a voice, schemes like this stand a better chance of being welcomed and of achieving its aims.”
No cold calling zone signs will be placed around Holderness Road and in the windows of residents homes.
Mary Gladman, Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator, said: “We are really pleased to be part of the scheme to combat this type of activity.”
