A DELIVERY van ploughed into a telegraph pole and hit another car at what residents claim is a “rat run” in Airedale.
Police officers were called to a road traffic collision between two vehicles at Leyland Road and Woodside at about 1pm on Monday December 19.
Witnesses say a DHL van smashed into a pole at the corner of the crossroads and struck another car.
A resident said he heard a “loud bang” and saw the van had smashed into the pole and a white car – whose passengers were a woman and a baby – had crashed into a nearby wall.
West Yorkshire Police confirmed three people suffered minor injuries in the incident.
Resident Brendon McNamara, of Leyland Road, said accidents were common at the junction and he had performed first aid at two accidents at the crossroads in recent years.
He said: “It’s a bit of a rat run around here. There’s traffic calming all the way around this estate and it’s supposed to be 20mph, but people speed.
“It’s all very well and good having a 20mph speed limit but there’s no enforcement. It’s crackers.”
