CARING Whitwood teen Jasmine Foster-Hale scooped an award at a glittering ceremony in London for supporting her mum who runs Pinderfields Hospital’s burns club.
Mum Tracy Foster, of Bedale Road, nominated her 13-year-old daughter for the Stagecoach Theatre Arts Good Buddy Award which recognises young people who have proved to be good role models.
Jasmine helps her mum – who has worked at the Wakefield hospital’s burns unit for eight years – support children who have suffered burn injuries and organise and raise funds for a summer camp for the youngsters.
Jasmine said: “I was shocked when they called out my name at the ceremony,
“I really enjoy helping my mum and I have lots of friends at the burns club.
“My older brothers also help out so it’s a family thing we do together.”
Sir Bernard Ingham presented the award to Jasmine and then the teenager, her mum and stepdad Norman were treated to a performance of Shrek the Musical as part of the celebrations.
Mrs Foster said: “I am so unbelievably proud of her, she has never complained once about dedicating her time to the club and she is a real role model.”
