HUNDREDS of Santas are set to storm Pontefract town centre for the Prince of Wales Hospice’s festive fun run next month.
Sponsored fundraisers can walk, jog or run in the Halfpenny Lane hospice’s annual Santa Dash on Sunday December 9.
Fun runner Pat Firth, 55, said the “fantastic” treatment her partner Bev Bertram – who died earlier this year – received at the hospice inspired her to join in the festive 2.5-mile dash.
Pat, of Stumpcross Way, Pontefract, said: “I was really grateful for the time we were able to spend together.
“In the end we couldn’t cope at home, and the hospice was the best place for Bev.”
“The support we received was fantastic. All I can say is if you are thinking about supporting the hospice, please do.
“It’s the reason I’m doing the Santa Dash, to raise funds so they can keep up the good work.”
There will be a brass band to warm up the atmosphere before the dash and each runner will be awarded a special medal for finishing the race.
The hospice has also organised a mini Christmas market selling merchandise, cards, turkey sandwiches and hot drinks after the event.
Places in the Santa Dash cost £8.50 for those with their own Santa suit, £10.50 including Santa suit collected from the hospice or £13 for a suit to be sent out to you by post.
