A scarecrow was swiped by thieves who made off in a car with pink wheel trims.

The effigy advertising Badsworth’s annual scarecrow festival was snatched from High Farm Meadow at around 4pm on Saturday June 1.

Police say a man got out of a silver or grey Corsa with bright pink trims and nabbed the straw man from a garden wall.

Four men are thought to have been in the vehicle, which was being driven by a blonde female.

The scarecrow was designed by eight-year-old Hannah Potts, whose grandad Barrie Slinger is chairman of the scarecrow fete committee.

It was dressed in a bright blue boiler suit and was wearing a yellow hat when thieves struck.

Anyone who saw the incident or has any information is asked to call the South East neighbourhood policing team on 101.
