YOUNGSTERS at Oyster Park Primary School got busy with paint brushes and rollers to help decorate their new school building.
The school, which is due to move into its new building early next year, held a competition for pupils to give them a chance to help paint a wall in the new reception area.
All pupils who got a 100 per cent attendance record for the two weeks leading up to half-term were put into a draw and a child was chosen from each class to help – from three-year-olds in nursery to 11-year-olds.
Mandy Reather, headteacher, said: “There’s a real buzz of bringing the school together into one building, as we’re split across four sites at the moment. We thought it would be lovely for the children to be involved and tie it in with an attendance drive.
“They had a lot of fun doing it and it was great to see some of our children who may not have the best academic skills doing something practical, that might inspire them, and for them to meet the builders as well.
“Some of them did get more paint on themselves than the wall!”
