Schools to recycle town’s former seats

Seven Castleford schools will give a new lease of life to seats rescued from the town centre.

Wakefield Council has donated 21 seats to Wheldon Road Infant, Townville Infant, Airedale Junior, Redhill Junior, Park Junior, Pathways and Henry Moore Junior schools.

The seats were replaced as part of the regeneration of the centre of Castleford and new benches have been installed in the Henry Moore Square on Carlton Street.

Coun Denise Jeffery, cabinet member for regeneration and economic growth, pictured above with Park Junior School pupils, said: “I’m really pleased that we were able to donate these seats to local schools and that they’ve been given a new lease of life. As the regeneration of Castleford moves forward, I’d like to thank residents for their patience and support while the works have been carried out and look forward to seeing Castleford continue to develop and thrive in the future.” P103A316.
