Castleford woman Sharna Child is taking a short cut to raising cash for charity when she has her head shaved as part of a fun day she has organised to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Sharna, 22, of Penrith Crescent, Ferry Fryston, has organised the event to support the charity, after her grandfather died of cancer in January.
Sharna said: “I’m a little bit nervous, but excited as well. I just wanted to raise money for a cancer charity, and I thought a head shave was something different.”
Sharna will be going for the chop at Fryston Club as part of a fun day she has organised there on July 6 from noon to 3pm. As well as the head shave, there will be activities including sponsored waxing, a bouncy castle and bake sale.
Maria Amos, Wakefield and district fundraising manager, pictured right, with Sharna, said: “Sharna’s event will help us provide services vital to cancer patients and their families.”
