Three sisters from Castleford will take to the streets of Leeds next month to raise cash for a charity close to their hearts.

Tracy, Kay and Donna Murphy will tackle the Jane Tomlinson Run for All Leeds 10k on July 14 to raise money for Pontefract’s Princeof Wales Hospice, which cared for their dad Alan, who died from lung cancer three years ago.

The women will be joined by their friends Cynthia Beckett and Rachel Parkinson.

Tracy, 31, said: “We just want to give something back to the hospice. Not only do the staff care for their patients but the support they offer friends and family is amazing too.”

The hospice costs around £2.2m every year to run and relies on charitable donations for the majority of this.

Tracy added: “We are hoping to raise about £500 between us and anything above that would be great.

“The hospice made an extremely tough situation that little bit easier thanks to their amazing care and wonderful support.”
